Ruggedo

Ruggedo is the Gnome King who lives under the city of OZ in one or Ruth Plumly Thompson's books called The Gnome King. In this episode of the on going saga of OZ the mischievous Gnome King opens a chest with expanding dust in it and as would have it, get some on him. When he quits growing he finds that the Emerald City is on his head. This Sculpture was inspired by the story and illustrations in the wonderful book. If you liked the movie, try the books. They were started by Frank Baum and continued after his death by Ruth Plumly  Thompson as well as writers Neill, Snow and Cosgrove. This is has been one of my absolute favorite sculptures because of the wonderful story behind his existence.
